Time to Change

The Time to Change project is dedicated to recognising the inherent talents of young individuals interested in theatre, fostering inclusive artistic practices, and scientifically monitoring their progress within a European transnational framework. Aligned with the first axis of the “Key Actions 2” (Erasmus+) initiative by the European Commission, our mission is to construct a reflective framework through collaborative activities and laboratory experiences across various organisational contexts. We aim to challenge the current theatrical landscape’s openness to diverse bodies, realities, and artistic expressions, thereby laying the groundwork for innovative inclusive theatrical practices.

Time To Change, co-financed by the European Commission under Key Action 2 and spearheaded by SIC Esperança, collaborates with Portuguese (SIC Esperança; Terra Amarela; IRENNE), Spanish (Globers) and Italian (Young Effect) entities.  With the support of Pais21.

Our overarching goal is to facilitate the integration of young individuals who are typically marginalised from traditional theatre spaces into meaningful theatrical experiences across Europe. Through a series of capacity-building workshops, autonomy-building activities, and collaborative artistic endeavours, we aim to co-create innovative theatrical methodologies with our participants.

The culmination of these efforts will result in the publication of a multilingual handbook. This handbook will not only document our innovative practices but also uphold the ethical principles of inclusive acting in theatre. By sparking discussions within the European theatrical community, it will serve as a practical guide for aspiring actors irrespective of their physical, cognitive, or socio-economic backgrounds.

In essence, the Time to Change project endeavours to democratise theatre, making it accessible to all who wish to engage with it, regardless of their circumstances.
